It’s been a while since we've had youngsters staying on the island at this time of year, so we haven’t been able to do Hallowe’en properly, but this year everything came together. Lynn’s sister and brother-in-law came with their two kids, and a pumpkin-decorating production line was set up on the veranda – Lynn cuts a mean pumpkin as you can see.
We strung paper lanterns on the pine tree by the sea wall and hung bats from the eaves of the cabin; and for two nights in a row it was warm and dry enough to spend the entire evening round the bonfire. Entertainment was provided by – mark my words – the future rock star of the family. Excellent.
