Henry Ford II with the Ford Mustang at the 1964 World's Fair, Flushing Meadows, New York
For some years my mother was a professional genealogist, and in an old computer at the back of a cupboard there are the results of her extensive research into her side of the Faulkner family - the Forsythes and the Sewells. We haven't got around to digging out this precious family resource, but when we do I expect I shall revisit the Fords. The connection is that when Henry, who was born on this day in 1917 to Edsel and Eleanor Ford, was taken back to the family home in Detroit, we can assume that my great-aunt Annie (Sewell) was waiting for him: she was his nanny.
