Riders In The Sky

Riders In The Sky
(Joey The Cow Polka King, Ranger Doug, Too Slim and Woody Paul)

Back when, I drove Lynn crazy on a road trip through New Mexico by playing Riders In The Sky (not the song but the C&W band - that's Comedy & Western) at full volume on the car stereo. They may not be to your taste, but it's easy to see why Riders In The Sky are one of the biggest-selling, best-loved, most enduring C&W bands in America: they play and sing pretty well, they don't take themselves too seriously (slogan: "It may not be the Easy Way.. but it's the COWBOY Way!"), and if you're a suggestible type like me, they can bring a smile to your eye, and then a tear, in quick succession.

This one, My Oklahoma, is of the "tear" variety:-

In their own words: "And so, the never-ending trail drive continues. The ponies are rested and watered and America's Favorite Cowboys are ready to saddle up and ride, bringing good beef to hungry people wherever they may be. Yes, Riders In The Sky are truly an exception to the rule. It would be the Easy Way to call it a career after 30-plus years, but it wouldn't be...the Cowboy Way!"

The one on the right in the top picture (middle top in the video) is Woody Paul, who happens to be 62 today.

PS: Leslie it's your fault, you introduced me to RITS :)
