Xmas at Killyleagh

Yesterday I had a call from Ann Fee of Killyleagh Library to say that at 6pm, as part of this year’s Christmas celebrations, they would be hosting a photo session for local authors. Sir John Gorman would be coming along and had agreed to turn on the village’s Christmas lights afterwards; also Clive Scoular, whose ‘Six Sons of Killyleagh’ was published at the same time as The Blue Cabin, and half a dozen other local authors.

It was fun, and afterwards I popped into Picnic Deli, where they were serving mulled wine and mince pies, and took in the atmosphere in front of Killyleagh Castle. The main street in Killyleagh is one of Co.Down’s prettiest anyway, but in the crisp night air, with all the shops open, the lights, the music and even a towering Santa tottering about amongst the children, it was pure magic.
