A friendly light on a dark sea

I was crossing to the island half an hour ago (ie well after dark) in a moderately big sea, and as I passed the lighted windows of our nearest neighbours on the mainland, John and Muriel Stringer (the house is beyond the boathouse in the photograph), I said a silent Thank-you. Not that he would see much on a night like this, but I know John keeps a watchful eye in stormy weather - sees us home, as it were - from his vantage point at the lough's edge, and it's a reassuring thought.

I discovered today that first thing every morning, John reads this blog, then Times online.

Morning John.
