On 14th August my nephew Jamie will be setting off with eight pals to cycle 1000 miles in memory of their friend Matthew Elvidge, who took his own life after a short period of depression in September 2009 - a bolt from the blue to his friends, who had no idea. The guys have built a site at http://1000milesformatt.com/ which gives the route, the background (including a moving piece about Matthew at http://1000milesformatt.com/matthew-elvidge-trust ); and details of The Matthew Elvidge Trust, which has been set up with the aim of increasing awareness of the implications and risks of depression in young people.
