Big Night

From the blog point of view, yesterday was a dies non est as it was our wedding anniversary (a big one), so we decided to push the boat out... and have an island barbeque, just the three of us. Lynn rigged a canopy from bamboo canes and throws, and we built a fire which had the sweet aroma of pine cones and fallen hawthorn; made a jug of Pimms; and dined on outdoor-reared pork with butternut squash and asparagus, all hot-smoked with fennel and rosemary scattered on the embers. Perfect.
